I had done what they wouldn't. || A siren's song

His face twisted as my knuckles became messenger of my rage. A resounding crack accompanied his impact with the tile floor, a pool of his own words spilling out upon it. The crowd cheered, suddenly I was Hercules, the hero of the people. I was Aeneas, their fearless leader. He stood up, a stream of retribution pouring from his eyes. As he ran off, I turned around to meet a sea of cheerful faces. I had done what they wouldn't.

Everywhere they go, the siren follows.
Those she meets, moan and wallow.
The sound, it steals sanity away.
Leaving them in complete dismay.
And all of them, as she strides by,
Dance and laugh under a crimson sky.

Uninterestingly Busy || Ironically Free

I started this blog with a sort of promise to myself that I'd keep it updated weekly. That all went out the window when I took on a huge load of work over the summer, and just never really had the energy to do much after I finished every day. Then summer came to an end, and I found myself in school, interestingly enough, with more time available. With this ironic freedom, I was excited far too much and just started to fill every little bit of free time I had with something fun. And while this turned out OK, and fun as expected, I also now have very little free time to use again. While it doesn't feel like a chore when I'm actually doing it, I now realize how much time tabletop games can take from you. But no, I'm not going to turn this into a, "The negative aspects of tabletop games-- oh by the way I'm quitting lol," post. I don't intend on quitting them, I just have learned my lesson not to take on as many obligations again.

In other news, I'm loving my current classes, and am genuinely finding everything about them pretty awesome. (Well, maybe outside American Lit. But I honestly know two people who actually like our lit.) Creative writing has gone pretty well, and I'm happy that I'm getting back into writing again, and I've gotten some genuinely nice advice throughout the class. I may do some writing just for this blog, however, I can't promise much. After all, I'm writing huge papers for every class at the moment. While I was picking my classes, I knew I needed one more upper level ENG class, so I went and looked at the 400 list, and found Saints Mystics and Martyrs. I had no idea what to expect with it, but it definitely pleased me. Everything we've gone over in the class interests me, and everyone in the class is genuinely friendly.

In other news, when I haven't been busy as hell, I've been playing random games on the side. Playing said games became a much slower process than it used to be though. I only get a couple hours at a time. That said, I've had some pleasant surprises with some video games as well. It leads me to think I may want to post a sort of review for a couple games. I've always said I wanted to try doing that. We'll have to see.

I'm not insane...

I've been thinking of starting a blog for quite a while, if only to keep myself writing beyond random bits of literary fiction I've been churning out for my professors. So when I finally got around to it, and gave it an appropriate name (I already know there will be very little actual structure here, rather just random musings), I decided to pass that on to a friend of mine. In response, I get a message saying something to the effect of, "That title sounds like something that you would come up with, considering your insanity." I'll have you know, I'm not insane. Rather, I'm a tiger riding a giant flying sandworm throwing cutlasses at sperm whales.

On another note, I'm on a spree of creativity at the moment. I didn't just get touched by a muse, instead, I'm pretty sure I'm getting my ass kicked by many of them while they repeatedly scream, "CREATIVITY!" And while that normally would be all well and good, especially for an aspiring writer, this sudden inspiration comes in many different forms, and I can't seem to focus on any single one. I started writing more, then suddenly felt like writing a song and switched over to that and not even halfway through started drawing. This is especially weird because I haven't actually drawn in a long time. However, it's not all bad, I came home from work today, and after this post, I have some stuff I can continue to work on.

Completely unrelated, I just recently finished James A. Owen's Here, There Be Dragons and honestly, if you're a fan of fantasy novels, read this book. I really had no idea what this book was until recently, when I went to Phoenix Comicon and met the author. It was somewhat of an impulse buy, as I only had a summary of the book from the author himself, but I don't regret it if only because of the last twist he put on it.

I think I'll end this post here, as I'm really compelled to start writing again. As far as a schedule for this blog, I'll probably update once a week on thursdays, and then whenever I feel like it.
